Tokai project
The main aim of this project is the transfer of knowledge and the creation of a training centre in the field of environmental protection of surface and ground water in Hungary. This will be done by starting up a demonstration pilot plant for small scale wastewater treatment, based on the wastewater treatment with constructed wetlands.
Duration: September 2003 - September 2006.
This project is funded by the Department of Foreign Policy of the Flemish Government.
The Flemish partner (Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen, Geel) is a university college that offers education in the field of agriculture, on vocational and academic level. As a result of several projects funded by the Flemish government the KHKempen gained up-to-date information on wastewater treatment by using constructed wetlands.
The university of Szeged, college of agriculture, Hódmezövásárhely is playing a leading role in agriculture education in the Southern part of Hungary. During many projects funded by the EU, this partner gained lots of experience in the field of international projects. This partner is in a favourable situation as a partner because of their place on the map of Hungary: very close to the Romanian border. This serves as an extra factor in disseminating the obtained knowledge in the future.
